A woman in her 30s has been found dead at a house in Kingsbridge, police have said.
Officers were called to Church Street at about 6pm on Tuesday following a concern for welfare report.
Devon and Cornwall Police said the cause of death is not currently known, but it is not believed to be suspicious.
Her next of kin have been informed.
Church Street was closed throughout the evening to allow emergency services to attend the scene.
Officers explained this was because the road was blocked by an ambulance and police cars.
Police in Kingsbridge dismissed reports that the woman had been found dead in the street.
Officers said she was discovered in her home by a family member.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokeswoman said: “Police received a concern for welfare report for a woman on Church Street in Kingsbridge at around 6pm on Tuesday, December 3.
“Emergency services attended the scene and a woman in her 30s was pronounced dead.
“Her next of kin are aware.
“The death is not believed to be suspicious at this time and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
