The Environment Agency has issued flood alerts across the South Hams as heavy rain hits the region.
The alerts, in place for South Devon, the River Dart area and from Start Point to Dawlish Warren are in force from Friday (November 22nd) to Sunday.
The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for heavy rain in the same period.
Heavy rain is expected across the weekend with the worst of it falling in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The Environment Agency’s full warning can be read below.
South Devon Rivers
"The Rivers Erme, Avon and Harbourne are now rising,” the Environment Agency say.
"River levels will remain high and flooding to low lying land and roads is likely.
"Further rain is forecast during the rest of Friday and overnight.
"This will cause river levels to rise again with further flooding expected in the area.”
River Dart Area
“Over the last 24 hours, we have seen heavy rainfall over South Devon,” the Environment Agency say.
"This has meant that the River Dart is now rising.
"River levels will remain high and flooding to low lying land and roads is likely.
"Further rain is forecast during the rest of Friday and overnight.”
“This will cause river levels to rise again with further flooding expected in the area.
"We are constantly monitoring river levels and have staff in the area checking for and clearing blockages.”
Start Point to Dawlish Warren
“Flooding is possible over high tide on Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon,” the Environment Agency say.
“A combination of high tide early Saturday morning and force 5 south-easterly winds are forecasted to result in 2m offshore wave heights.
“This may cause wave overtopping of sea defences and sea spray in exposed coastal areas.
“Locations at risk include quays and low lying car parks along the South Devon coast, such as Torbay, Dawlish and Teignmouth.
“High tide at Teignmouth is at 3:15am on Saturday morning.
“Coastal conditions will remain stormy throughout the weekend so take care near the coast."
The Environment Agency will update the alerts across the weekend or as the situation changes
