In this week’s Totnes Times, we lead on a story about a district and county councillor raising concerns about a controversial site in the South Hams that could be exposing residents to asbestos.

Cllr Jacqui Hodgson was called to the site in Dartington after residents reported concerns that the open wire fencing erected between the demolition site and residents, and a two-metre high wooden fence between the demolition site and adjacent school, is insufficient to protect them and does not conform with license and planning agreements.

Our picture story is of Ian Curror, from Stoke Gabriel Community Concerts presenting a cheque for £1,500 to Mark Hatch and Bonita Curtis, of Totnes Connection Hub, which provides support to homeless people and people in need.

Inside, we have an article about upcoming Holocaust Memorial Day, which is taking place on Sunday to remember the six million Jewish people who were murdered during the Holocaust.

We hear from Marc Frank of the Totnes Jewish Community to ask what Holocaust Memorial Day means to him.

As always, we feature information about ’What’s On’, around the clubs, and ’Village Voices’ all inside.

Remember if you can’t get to the shops, or you have moved out of the area, you can get all South Hams Newspapers online here: http://www.southhams-today.co.uk/subscribe.cfm.
