Torrential rain deluged parts of the South Hams as a storm swept through the region - hitting businesses including homes, a deli and a pub.
Thunder and lightning accompanied the storm, which left a number of roads under water.
Parts of Kingsbridge and Salcombe flooded, with the tarmac on several roads lifting in places.
The sit down cafe within Mangetout Deli, on Fore Street, was forced to temporarily close because of flooding. The take away service was still operating.
Drivers are urged to take care while travelling.
The worst of the weather was not expected to pass until this afternoon.
The King of Prussia pub in Church Street, Kingbridge, reported it was hit by flash flooding and said on Facebook that a "massive clean-up" was underway. They hoped to be ready to re-open at 4pm, they said.
Tim Newman, manager of the King of Prussia, said the rain storm hit at high tide, but there had been no warning.
"We have flood barriers as we have been hit before, but this came out of nowhere. High tide and blocked drains meant the water was nearly two feet deep in moments." He said the pub would soon re-open. "We just get on with it. We will be open this afternoon," he said.
