THE beloved Live and Let Live Pub in Landscove near Buckfastleigh will be shutting its doors at the end of the month. The pub, founded in 1850 and recently taken over by Oliver and Yann, aimed to ‘keep the doors open and ensure its place in the community’.
Priding itself in high-end food coming from within 25 miles of the pub, the pub had proved a hit for the last three years of business.
However, mounting financial pressures and the long impact of Covid made the enterprise ‘no longer viable.’
In a statement, the owners said: ‘After 3 years Olivier and Yann are sorry to announce that Sunday 29th October will be our last day of trading at the Live and Let Live.
'We have faced significant challenges over the past 3 years from Covid to the ongoing financial pressures, we are sad to say it is no longer viable to continue. We want to thank you for you custom and friendship over the past 3 years.
‘We will be having a Halloween leaving party on Friday 27th, this will be you last chance to have one of our woodfired pizzas. We have a resident dj from Timepiece Exeter for the evening. We would love for you to come join us to help us end this chapter on a high.
‘Hermosa Beats Cartel will also be returning for one last time with us on Friday 20th October
Our last service will be on Sunday 29th when we will be serving what we still believe to be the best Sunday Roast in Devon.’
The news triggered a sad response from many customers. One customer said: 'So sorry to hear this! Have enjoyed many fabulous Sunday lunches and suppers with you and will truly miss the warm welcome snd great food.'
Another said: 'You were the little gem we found just post Covid who reignited our faith.'
