Salcombe is getting ready to serve up another helping of coastal flavour as it marks a decade of its much-loved annual Crabfest.

Returning on Sunday, May 4, 2025, the event will once again showcase the town’s strong ties to fishing, tourism and top-tier cuisine, all set against the backdrop of Salcombe’s stunning shoreline.

Focused on maintaining its family-friendly atmosphere, take a leisurely walk through Salcombe’s winding streets and waterfront from Creek Car Park and Island Street. The area will be pedestrianised for the day and transformed into a treasure trove of artisan foods and gifts.

The festival will feature some of the finest chefs and restaurateurs in the culinary industry.

They will take to the stage in the Chefs’ Demo Marquee, situated in Creek Car Park, to showcase their culinary and “light sabre” skills.

This year, some new faces will combine with the intergalactic team.

These include Tom Parker Bowles Author and Food Critic, Drinks Guru Kate Hawkins and Sam White Executive Chef at Fortnum & Mason getting up to “star-wars” trouble with chef and presenter of BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen and Channel 4’s Food Unwrapped, Matt Tebbutt; Chef Director of Rockfish, Kirk Gosden; Jane Baxter of Wild Artichokes in Kingsbridge; Ben Tonks of The Seahorse; Freddy Bird of littlefrench, among others, cooking up a solar storm. Pick up some tips and taste delights that are auctioned off at the end of every demonstration, and even bid on a signed copy of one of our chefs' cookbooks.

David Fitzgerald will add his usual spiced commentary to this brilliant fun and free demonstration stage.

Visitors can browse and buy in Salcombe's fantastic shops, cafes, restaurants, and more throughout the town. Live music will be played on the Toad Hall Music Stage throughout the day. There will also be a programme of children's activities.

Not only is Salcombe Crabfest a fun-filled, enjoyable event for all ages but it’s also organised by dedicated volunteers of the Rotary Club of Salcombe to raise as much money as possible for local charities.

So far, Crabfest has raised over £70,000 for good causes since it began in 2016. Last year, Crabfest proudly supported The Wind Project, based in Salcombe, which works with local schools and individuals to make sailing more accessible for all.

This year, we will focus on the team at Rock2Recovery (www.rock2recovery.co.uk), which works to support members of our armed forces, veterans, and 999 communities.

Nick Brodie, the event's organiser, said: “It’s been 10 years since the Crab Festival started in 2016, so kicking off the summer season with fun, joy, and culinary delights is just brilliant.”

Of course, nothing happens without the support of the Salcombe and Devon community, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped us put together this anniversary event."

Salcombe Crabfest would not be possible without the fantastic support of event sponsors Coast & Country Cottages, Devon Rum Co, Marchand Petit, Rock Fish, and Twisted.
