Snow and ice may make travel difficult tonight across South Hams as the Met Office has issued a Yellow Warning.
The alert covers until midnight tonight (Friday).
There is then a separate Yellow Warning for ice lasting from midnight to 11am tomorrow (Saturday).
A spokesperson for the Met office said: “Icy stretches are likely to form perhaps leading to some disruption to travel with snow falling for some places.
“Snow is most likely to fall over The Pennines, North York Moors and the high ground of Wales and southwest England, with 2-5cm possible here.”
The Met Office also warned of icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, with risk of unjury from slips and falls increased.
Devon County Council cabinet member Cllr Stuart Hughes said: “Gritters are out and about across Devon this evening and overnight... with road temperatures well below freezing expect icy conditions especially on untreated surfaces.”
