A South Hams woman braved three separate yellow weather warnings to walk the entire length of the South West Coast Path for charity.
The 67-year-old, who works as a guide at Start Point Lighthouse, battled her way through torrential rain and gale-force winds to complete the walk on Saturday, October 26.
She had hoped to achieve £1,000 through her efforts but has already smashed her target to raise more than £4,200.
Diana now hopes to achieve £5,000 for Bloodwise, which helps people with Leukaemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma.
She chose the charity because of family illness and friends who have been affected.
Around 38,000 people are diagnosed with blood cancer every year and she hopes her efforts will remind others that cancer affects everyone.
Diana’s husband Martin, 67, who accompanied her on the walk, said: “She tentatively thought that she might raise £1,000.
“But to date, with Gift Aid added in, she has achieved in excess of £4,200 and now hopes to reach £5,000.
“She has battled her way through three separate yellow weather warnings encompassing torrential rain and dangerous gale-force winds to reach South Haven, Poole on Saturday.
“Two days were lost when the army had the stretch near Lulworth closed for army manoeuvres and live firing.
“She actually completed the walk in 43 days and with diversions and rerouting for non-running ferries she actually covered around 650 miles averaging over 15 miles a day.”
