Wrangaton Golf Club
On Wednesday, July 11, the Ladies’ Guest Day took place in glorious weather.
The scores were very high: in first place were Angie Newman and her partner Liz with 45 points on countback from Jane Cooke and her partner Jill. Jane Barter came third with her partner Tracy with 43 points.
Angie Newman had a two on the 12th; the longest drive was on the ninth, won by Sarah Hoff; and nearest the pin was won by Barbara Smith on the 12th.
The Wrangaton ladies Sheila Creasy team look as though they are through to the quarter-finals, so congratulations to captain Kate Purcell and her team.
Dan McClean scored 38 points to win the Wednesday roll-up competition. Jono Wright took second place on countback from Mark Hancock, with both players scoring 37 points – Jono finished in second place, though, with a better back nine score.
The scoring was very close for this week’s nine-hole Captain’s Evening event. Jono Wright, Matt Westmoreland and Brian Main all scored 22 points, but Jono took top spot on countback with a better back six holes.
Leigh Ryder won the alternate day stableford event on countback from Darren Parnell and Neil Ryder, with all three players scoring 39 points.
Wrangaton’s men’s section won the 2018 Colombier Jug. The event is made up of six men, six ladies, six juniors and six veterans, where all the points for each section are added together at the end.
The men’s section scored 211 points to win the trophy, the juniors and veterans both scored 198 to finish joint second, with the ladies scoring 196 points.
The highlight of the day was a score of 45 points from junior member Sam Buckley.
