The Hogmanay Trophy competition was held on Sunday, January 14, and despite strong winds, some impressive scores were recorded due to the greens being superb for this time of the year. This is no mean feat, and the credit and players’ thanks go to our greenkeepers.
What a fabulous start to the year for the men’s captain Liam Kimber and his partner Jake Pepperell, who came first with 63 points.
In second place were Martyn Scarterfield and Diggory Vowles, scoring 65, while in third place were Ben Guest and Darren Mutton with a score of 67. There were four twos on the day.
In tempestuous conditions, the ladies held a 10-1 stableford on Saturday, January 13.
Some very determined ladies, who managed to keep their feet on the ground despite the hurricane and driving rain, completed 18 holes.
In first place was Jane Wain (21), recording 28 points; second place, on countback, was Irene Lowry (13), also with 28 points; and in third place came Pip Fisher (13) with 27 points.
Well done to them all for their grit, determination and stamina.
